The Grove Church is the product of much prayer. At one point, planting The Grove was just a dream. Yet, thanks to God and the generosity of many of his people, The Grove is now a reality.
Shane and Kara Alexander teamed up with Marshall and Lara Jane Coffey in January 2008 to plant a Christ formed church in the Woodway Hewitt region of Greater Waco. On January 6, 2008, the Alexanders and the Coffeys met with the Bucks (the first family to become a part of The Grove) and a few family members from out of town at the Alexander house for The
Grove's first church meeting of any kind. Since that time, God has sent a number of wonderful families our way who are helping to make The Grove what it is.
The Grove currently meets in two life groups on a weekly basis. Life groups are the basic building blocks of The Grove in which we build community, study God's Word, and pray together as family. Life groups at The Grove are also charged with seeking out community service projects that they perform as a group. Not only does this service give back to our community in Greater Waco, it helps form us into the Christ-formed people we seek to be.
We also meet for monthly worship gatherings at Mama Baris on Hewitt Drive. In additon to life groups and worship gatherings, The Grove also facilitates a growing number of spiritual formation groups: groups of 3-4 persons of the same gender who meet together weekly for the purpose of spiritual formation.
