NEWS FROM JOHN AND CATHERINE PENNISI   “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations …. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age,” Mt 28:19-20.

TAKING LEAVE JULY-AUGUST.  On July 1 we are scheduled to fly to Atlanta to begin our leave.  We are looking forward to seeing family, church folks and friends and to reporting on the work here.

SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE ENDS FIRST SEMESTER OF 2008.  13 persons completed the course in Basic Biblical Theology, and 22 others the advanced study in 1, 2 Timothy and Titus.  All these students attended 3 hours of class for 19 weeks and were awarded Certificates Of Study on June 22.

Attendance in the worship service following the award ceremony was 115, our largest crowd ever.

MERCEDES PRADO DI MONACO IMMERSED INTO CHRIST.  One student in the School gave her life to Christ in baptism this semester.  Her husband, Salvatori, completed Basic Theology with her and attends church regularly.  They are parents of three married adults, and grandparents.

SALE OF OLD CHURCH PROPERTY FINALIZED.  We have had a buyer since March but were not able to close the sale until May 20 due to reams of legal red tape required by the title office.   We received on that day in cash the equivalent of $78,788.00 dollars, all of which will be dedicated to our building program.  That will provide sufficient funds to put the roof on the building, give rough form to the nine classrooms on the third floor, and perhaps make some progress on the second floor auditorium and baptistery. Yes, you guessed it – the building is costing much more than the “wise” estimates of several builders, contractors and architects.

HOW WILL THE JUDGE DECIDE?   An audience was scheduled today before a judge to settle our problem with the glass company that did very poor work and did not fulfill its contract with us.  Our volunteer lawyer, Ruggero, was preparing to go to court when a friend asked for assistance with his car.  The friend started the motor in a moment when Ruggero had his hand at a crucial spot on the motor, and he suddenly lost a finger!  The audience has been delayed until September.

We pray for God’s richest blessings on you,
